Our Italian Itinerary, 100km
The journey begins with a short bus ride from Florence to a picturesque guest farm near Gambassi Terme. You will stay two nights here, allowing you to dedicate the following day to Tuscany's traditional flavors with an exciting truffle hunt and a visit to a local goat dairy farm.
On the third day, the trekking begins in earnest as you set off toward Colle Val d’Elsa and Monteriggioni. Along the way, you’ll realize why this region is best explored on foot. Along the Via Francigena, scenes unfold of rolling green hills, golden vineyards, and iconic medieval towns.
During a rest day in Siena, you’ll have the chance to explore the Gothic streets and famous cathedral, as well as learn the secrets of pasta-making during a cooking class. After walking through the historic town of Buonconvento, the adventure concludes in San Quirico d’Orcia. In a region rich in winemaking heritage, you’ll celebrate with a wine tasting and a visit to a renowned local cellar.

How do our walking tours work?
Our walking tours are fully supported, slack pack routes. The route is predetermined and you are able to self-pace throughout the day while a dedicated support team handles your luggage transfers, hotel bookings and meals.
-
No more heavy bags! Each day the support team transports your luggage between hotels. You only walk with a daypack with a warm jacket, your water bottle, camera, and snacks.
-
Daily walks usually last between three and six hours. The leisurely pace allows plenty of time for delicious lunches, photography, and exploring the towns along the way.
-
The route is not technically challenging, but a good level of fitness ensures that you can enjoy the trip worry-free. The terrain consists of hills, gravel roads, and footpaths. If you are comfortable walking for a few hours on various surfaces, you will easily manage the distance.
-
Not necessarily. Your tour leader is on the trail with you, but you are welcome to walk at your own pace. The route is clearly marked, allowing you to enjoy quiet moments or socialize, just as you prefer
-
You will stay in a variety of boutique hotels, historic villas, and guesthouses personally selected by us. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms.
-
Your journey begins and ends in Florence. Private bus transport takes you to the starting point and brings you back to the city after the tour.
-
Both. This trip is intended as much for the foodie as it is for the hiker. Picturesque walking trails go hand in hand with truffle hunting, farm visits, cooking classes, and wine tasting sessions.
-
Although you follow the Via Francigena, the emphasis is on the culture and cuisine of Tuscany. This trip is specially curated for those who appreciate nature, fine food and wine, local heritage, and the art of slow travel, rather than a religious pilgrimage.
The Via Francigena, 100km
The Via Francigena is a legendary medieval pilgrimage route that served as the spiritual lifeline between Canterbury and Rome, the heart of Christendom. Spanning over 2,000 km across four countries, this remarkably well-preserved historic trail is at its absolute most enchanting in Tuscany.
As you experience the region's rich culture and scenery on foot, the route leads you through an iconic landscape of rolling green hills dotted with terracotta villas and medieval towns—embodying slow travel at its finest.
